Let your stresses Drift Away at this perfect family retreat. This 2 bedroom, plus Bunkie, cottage is located on a flat lot with Western exposure. A perfect location for single families, or small families plus Grandparents. The main cottage has two bedrooms, both with Queen beds, plus a 4-PC washroom. There is also a Queen sofa bed in the living room. The kitchen, dining room and living room are open concept, so they feel quite spacious. Steps away from the cottage is a spacious Bunkie with Queen bed and seating area over looking the lake. There is a large, flat, lawn area behind the cottage. Perfect for a game of catch or badminton. On the lake side there is also flat lawn and a fire pit. A sand beach will appear later in the summer. The water gets deep very gradually, with a beautiful sand bottom, so it is great for kids. You can also swim in the deeper water (3' - 4') off the end of the dock. There is tall grass to the left of the dock, but the swimming side is beautiful and clear. Maple Lake is part of a three lake chain that offers great fishing for Trout, Bass, Musky, Walleye and Perch. The floating Lily pad, and fleet of watercraft will provide hours of entertainment for the kids.

Great location with perfect shallow waters for kids to play and swim. Cottage had everything you would need for a perfect stay. Only suggestions I would make is maybe some hooks to hang towels and side tables in bedrooms and living room. We had a fantastic stay overall. Thanks!

This cottage gives you complete privacy in a quiet area, yet only about a 15 minute drive to either Haliburton village or Minden where you can do your shopping or eating out. The lakefront with a nice dock is right at your doorstep from where you can watch the most beautiful sunsets. All in all we had a great time and as a bonus the weather god was on our side...

The cottage and bunkie are very clean and comfortable. The owner response very fast when we need help. We have everything we need in the house. Very considerate. We love the paddleboard and paddle boat in the cottage. Amazing view of the lake all day!

The cottage was very nice and well appointed, however, we had to purchase a mat for the bathtub as it was very slippery and a new shower curtain. The previous curtain on was disgusting. There was no beach, even though our stay was late in the season. The outdoor rock stairs where very dangerous, different heights and very uneven. Even my dog had a difficult time navigating them. There should also be a railing going down to the dock as more uneven rock stairs.

All-Season Cottage Rentals' Response:

Thanks for your review and for purchasing a new shower curtain for the cottage! One point of clarification for the benefit of future guests, water levels on Maple Lake fluctuate differently than most lakes in our area. Maple Lake is a “flow through” lake meaning that water levels are not controlled by a dam. As water is released from lakes further upstream, water levels will rise. This generally occurs in August. There are also higher levels in April and May caused by Spring run-off. During June and July, the flow from larger lakes upstream is reduced allowing those basin lakes to fill. During this time you will experience lower lake levels. The ‘draw-down’ is usually complete by late August, so you will also see lower water levels in September and October.

Exceeded Expectations

We’ve been visiting Haliburton in summertime for years and found this rental cottage exceeded our expectations. The cottage and bunkie looked to be newly renovated and both very clean and comfortable. We loved the included SUP boards and amazing sunset views! The location is so convenient to many off our favourites like The Pepper Mill restaurant, The Log Cabin Country Store and Kawartha Dairy. My only suggestion would be a washing machine - handy for longer stays, but not a deal breaker. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cottage.

Amazing Sunsets and Fall Colours

This was our second time renting Drift Away as we find it a perfect location for visiting our favourite Haliburton attractions. You're close to West Guilford and the Log Cabin Country Store, Carnarvon for Boshkung Brewing and The Pepper Mill Restaurant, Minden for grocery shopping and many hiking trails of the Haliburton Highlands. This cottage is well equipped, the beds are comfortable - which is often not the case in cottage rentals, and the sunset views over the lake are spectacular. We were only slightly disappointed when we found on arrival that the gas fireplace wasn't working. I'm sure the owner will have this fixed but maybe check before you book if it is something you're looking forward to. As we were there on the Thanksgiving weekend and temperatures had dropped, it would have been nice to have. The beauty of the lake and fall colours made up for it. We would rent here again for sure!

The perfect size, well laid out, very well equipped and extremely comfortable! We had a great time in the snow, watching DVDs and snowboarding at Sir Sam’s.
