The cottage itself was lovely, just the right balance between kick-back comfort and high end amenities. However, the location was a little too remote for our family. Access to grocery stores required at least a 30 minute drive. We were also disappointed that the waterfront was quite weedy and that there were significant goose droppings all over the area between the cottage and lake. When we contacted the management company, we were advised to rake the droppings into the woods. We were not prepared to spend our vacation doing property maintenance. We feel that someone should have been sent to clean up the lakefront.

All-Season Cottage Rentals' Response:
Thanks for taking the time to share your review. Yes, the cottage is way around the top side of Kennisis Lake, almost at the end of the road, bordering the Haliburton Forest & Wildlife Reserve. If you carry on to the end of the road, you have direct access to the Haliburton Highlands Water Trails with endless paddling opportunities down the Kennisis River into Red Pine Lake and beyond. The closest store is in West Guilford, which is about 30 minutes from the cottage, so you certainly want to come prepared in term of groceries/supplies. The cottage has approximately 1,800 feet of water frontage. The water is clean and clear in beach area and off the end of the dock, but does get weedy as you go further into the bay (a great spot to fish or to see Moose!). Unfortunately, as with any property on the lake with lawn and beach shoreline, Geese can be an issue. The property is cleared of Goose droppings between groups, but it is up to the guests to maintain during their stay. Staff does not attend daily to clean lawn and waterfront. Generally speaking, while people are around the Geese will stay away, but if there is no one around they can make a mess pretty quickly. This is a common issue for any waterfront property with shallow access and a lawn area. I hope this info is helpful for the benefit of future guests in determining if the cottage is a good fit for your family.

We Just completed our second rental of Driftwood Cove over the winter holidays. Our family has two teenagers. We enjoyed how private the location was. The view across the bay is stunning with no cottages. Our family enjoyed playing the games that Driftwood Cove supplied and going on winter hikes throughout the area. Driftwood Cove has a beautiful stone fireplace in the common area for wood burning. I noticed the beautiful carpets placed throughout the cottage. There were also plenty of warm colourful quilts and afghan blankets placed in the common areas and bedrooms. The wifi was excellent and there was no complaints from the teens. We would definately rent again! Thank you Driftwood Cove.

This cottage has everything you need for an unforgettable vacation. The kids spent most of the time at the large dock playing in the water on the lily pad and water trampoline. Dock also had a large umbrella which was great!
Cottage is very spacious yet cozy at the same time. It was a very comfortable place and we will likely book again.

We had the best time at Driftwood Cove. The cottage is so beautiful with lots of space for people to hang out in and not feel on top of each other. The beds were comfy and clean and the kitchen had everything you could want.
The lake is beautiful and so quiet, a great place to swim and go for a paddle. Would definitely come back!

Loved our family stay- a week of golf, baby fun, and family dinners. May choose a later date next year due to mosquitoes as hiking was not on the menu. Overall a beautiful cottage, thanks to the Haliburton Cottages team for great service!

Perfect cottage and remote property location for our family of 10. Lots of space inside and out. The extra large dock was fabulous with lots of water toys available. Unfortunately the water trampoline didn't have enough air in it to use, but we kept very busy with all the other toys available for use. The fire pit was the perfect gathering place for evenings and we all enjoyed our week together. I would recommend a good vacuum and a full cleaning of the house to be included for the price we paid for the week. Overall, it was a great property and I would definitely consider renting this property in the future.

All-Season Cottage Rentals' Response:
Thanks for your review! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We have one quick point to confirm with respect to cleaning. There are cleaners that come in between each group. While we do ask guests to wash and return all dishes, and to leave the cottage neat and tidy behind themselves, there is cleaning included in the rental cost. The cleaners will scrub toilets/tubs, sanitize kitchen and washroom, mop floors, dust, etc to ensure that guests are arriving to a clean and welcoming cottage.

Really great place. Lots of privacy and quiet time. Enjoyed everything about it with my family.
