This 4-bedroom, 1-washroom cottage is the ideal retreat for single families in search of a true cottage experience. The cottage itself is comfortable and well-equipped to provide everything you need for an enjoyable holiday on the lake. The master bedroom offers a Queen bed with private balcony providing gorgeous view of the lake. The other three bedrooms are small and best suited for children with single beds in two of the rooms (can be converted into Double beds) and a Double futon in the other room. There is a large, recently renovated 3 PC washroom. Washer/dryer and dishwasher are available. Stay connected while you are at the cottage with wireless internet and Apple TV for streaming movies on a rainy day. Outside, the cottage offers a high level of privacy. There is a lakeside fire pit, treefort and outdoor shower. At the lake, enjoy a swim in the clean and clear waters of Monck Lake or lounge on the large dock equipped with four Muskoka chairs, as well as a table set for dining. The water is approximately 7' deep off the end of the dock and there is also an area for shallow entry with sand bottom. A boat launch is conveniently located on the opposite side of the bay. The cottage is pet friendly and located on a quiet cottage road that is fantastic for long dog walks. Situated in a great area. Cottage is a great size, has a great floor plan. Water pressure in washroom not the best. When you flush the toilet there's only a slight stream of water that comes out of the Faucet to wash your hands. Outside fire pit area had to be tidied up to be used. Grass not cut. Fantastic size dock was a focal point during the stay. Fishing in the lake was a little disappointing close to the cottage. You had to venture out to the larger lake through the passage.

Great time had by my family at the Green Monck. Cottage owner was incredibly helpful working through a couple of minor issues - this was very much appreciated. Some comments and things to note for other renters:
* cottage was very clean!
* Monck Lake is not a motor-free lake; for those seeking a quiet cottage, weekends are busy times for boats!
* cottage is a bit tricky to find; pay attention to the detailed directions, and you'll find it easier than I did on the first day :)
* cottage is down single lane hilly roads - pay attention to the speed limit sign
* in July the forest was plentiful, if you have a large vehicle, expect the forest to reach out to you a little, as you drive down the laneway
* spekaing of the laneway, it is a little snug if you have a full size vehicle; turning around and leaving might take a couple of tries
* speaking of the forest, the environment is very natural and untouched - not an issue for us, but others may appreciate knowing this in advance. expect to use bug spray at the firepit
* the dock area is GREAT. comfortable chairs, excellent table/chair set. two Muskoka-style chairs well placed at the start of the dock, in the shade.
* despite the forest-y laneways, it is still close to Highway 118, expect a little road noise. Not that obtrusive.
* kayaks are excellent and were well enjoyed
* hands down the best WIFI I've experienced in cottage country
* including an Apple TV box was excellent
* one neighbour to the left, no-one close to the right. Trees between you and the neighbour.
* interior decor is awesome! very homey. mix of modern touches and retro.
* this is also an excellent value, very fair priced.
