This is the second year that I have rented this cottage and it is because of the privacy, quietness and beautiful beach. One of a kind if you want privacy on a beautiful lake.

Hawk's Nest is starting to feel like a second home and we look forward already to being back next year....or maybe for a few days in the Fall (we'll be in touch). I'm not sure who was sadder to leave, us or the dogs. Thanks again for another great vacation.

The cottage was clean and welcoming with all the amenities we needed. The lot was very large and private. The beach was very close and would be excellent for small children. The water was perfect. Beautiful view and lots of shade. For sunning yourself, the dock was perfect.

We stayed early in September and had wonderful weather. Cottage is very traditional, cozy and well equipped. Very private setting. Wood fireplace insert for cooler evenings. Lots of opportunity for hiking and kayaking/ canoeing. Don and Heather were very good hosts who obviously love this property! Will definitely be coming back next year!!

Hawk's Nest is a classic cottage on a very large and private lot, with a clean, deep lake and sunny dock to enjoy.

This was our fourth summer coming to Hawk's Nest on Big Hawk Lake and we're already looking forward to another two weeks next year. We looked around at many cottages to rent over the years and once we landed on Hawk's Nest, it became our annual retreat. This is a very clean, well stocked, classic cottage with an equally comfortable and roomy bunky for overflow. It has a very large deck that gets sun on one side and shade on the other throughout the day. It's very private with a ton of outdoor space and lots of room for frisbee, or a game of badminton or bocce. There's a beach area with shallow entry into the lake - the dock gets a ton of mid-morning/afternoon/evening sun. Sunrise and sunsets are lovely from the beach or the dock. It's a great lake for canoe adventures with some well marked portages if you really want to wander around. The two Hawk lakes provide plenty of scenery and wildlife spotting (deer, moose, hawks, ducks...etc...). You can also rent a motor boat or paddle board from the marina. The cottage is nestled behind lots of trees which keeps it cool and comfortable even when the temps climb into the 30s as it did when we were there this year. For cooler nights (which we had a lot of in 2015) there's a gorgeous fireplace inside that heats the place up in no time. It's a great location for kids and adults and also dogs. The cottage is very far from any paved roads and there are lots of trails nearby for longer walks. It's about 25 minutes to either Dorset or Minden for activities (mini-putt, golf, go-carts...) and good shopping. Needless to say, we're very happy we found Hawk's Nest!

We spent a long weekend at Hawk's Nest and really enjoyed it. The cottage was nice and comfortable and had everything we needed. The deck and its view were wonderful. We rented a kayak from the nearby Big Hawk Lake Marina, which we were able to paddle to the cottage. Facing north, we were able to enjoy both the sunrise and the sunset from the dock. The cottage is very accessable, yet very private. We would definitely return for another visit.

We've been coming to Hawk's Nest in August for three years now and are already looking forward to 2016. The cottage is spacious, nicely pointed and has a huge wrap around deck that catches the sun in the morning. The dock is sun-filled through the afternoon into the evening with lovely views of the lake and lots of comfy chairs to kick back in. Just a quick drive to Dorset for some shopping or Minden for golf, batting cage and other fun activities....and Marion's Chip Shop in between....makes this a great location all around.

Quaint cottage, obvious love from the owners, however too dark, not enough amenities in the kitchen, bathroom too small.

The cottage is obviously loved by the owners, beautiful setting and would make for a fantastic fall holiday. Unfortunately we only learned at the time of confirmation that it was north east exposure. The sun was only on the water and only on it at midday, the bugs were really making any time outside unbearable. With the rain, bugs and little, to no sun, it wasn't the summer week up north we enjoy having.
