A late impulse to book a cottage for our visiting family turned out to be an excellent decision. Great privacy for such a convenient location. We brought our own canoe so two canoes full of adults and children could easily paddle to the beach in West Guilford each day for ice creams. The hummingbirds, ravens and loons were a treat. We also loved dining in the screened in veranda and watching the sun go down in the evening. There was plenty of space and a nice big tv for us to watch the Olympics. On the down side, there were quite a lot of knickknacks and memorabilia in the cottage which was a bit nerve wracking with young children tearing around but we managed a damage free week. An unexpected bonus was the well equipped playroom in the basement which kept the kids occupied when it rained. But the star of the week was a coil of cotton rope found in the bin by the front door. Who knew how many hours of varied activity this could provide for four year old?

Pine View is a pleasant well appointed cottage with many fine features that make for a great summer cottage family vacation close to nature. The lot is well treed and very private even though there are other cottages adjacent. The lake is small and quiet without a lot of motor traffic. There is a small beach and sandy entry which is nice for kids, but no dock or deep water access. Lots of beach toys, a canoe, several kayaks and two peddle boats for family fun. The kitchen is well equipped and the cottage itself is spacious. There is a steep staircase to access the waterfront, but also a back way around by a gentle path if stairs are difficult. We also love the screened in dining area which is great for evening meals and games nights without any bugs. The owner was very responsive to any little queries we had while there.
Haliburton village is nearby with two good grocery stores, a Shoppers Drug and a Rexall pharmacy, an LCBO and beer store and many small shops and a couple of restaurants. There is also a nearby hospital "just in case"
Just needs an icecream shop and it would be perfect!
This was our second year and we would certainly consider renting again

We had a really nice time at the Pine View. Visited for a week in the summer with two young kids so the beach and shallow entry was wonderful. The interior is actually nicer than we thought from the pictures. It is has a very well stocked kitchen with all the pots, pans and appliances you could want. Lots of cozy couches and the screened in deck is great for eating dinners outdoors. Big BBQ for grilling. There are two nice bedrooms and a play room in the basement which are also great. We loved the big rock in the playroom!
The listing advertised 3 kayaks and a canoe. When we arrived two of the kayaks were up by the garage and seemed to be in storage so we did not touch those but there were also two peddle boats which are fun for the little ones.
We saw loons, heron, deer and lots of hummingbirds visited the gardens.
The stairs to the beach are a bit steep so be careful if you have any older or elderly guests.
It is not all marble and shiny high tech and maybe a family with older teenagers might need more action but if you want a cozy comfy well appointed cottage in a beautiful rustic setting but only a few minutes from a town with groceries/pharmacy/library/icecream shop/etc etc this is a great spot.
We had a wonderful week

We stayed at this cottage last year. Loved it so much, we stayed there again this year. Great cottage feeling, netted patio where you can avoid mosquitos, great backyard, shallow sand beach, amazing for kids..

Could use some tree trimming to achieve some sun on the beach in August when the sun is not so directly overhead. Everything else about the cottage and property is A-1. Proximity to shopping and activities is very good. We would definitely enjoy a repeat at Pine View.

The guests that slept in the basement experienced dampness and a smell which made it difficult to sleep. I suggest that the Owner check for outside water intrusions into the basement. The dehumidifier had to be emptied frequently. Because the cottage was close to a road, we experienced traffic noise during the day and early in the morning. In general we were satisfied with the cottage and the amenities provided.

We were 4 ladies whose mission it was to escape our families, go for long walks in exploring the area, enjoy the waterfront and be with girl friends in a comfortable cottage setting. The week was a total success, in large part because the cottage is so comfy and nice. Thank you for having us.

The cottage is beautifully renovated. It’s modern and cozy. The lakefront views are incredible. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay awesome. We were thrilled to be able to stay for a week and will hopefully be able to return. Any time of year this location would be a great getaway. Close to amenities but but true cottage country. Thank you for sharing we highly recommend this property.

We loved the cottage. It was very clean, well decorated, very comfortable. My kids and wife loved it. I would go back to this cottage again for sure.
Beach area was great. It was shallow and sandy.
Garden was very spacious with lots of flowers and green. Great for badminton, setting up a tent for kids.
Patio was amazing. The netted dining area is great idea allowing us to enjoy patio and bbq without mosquitos any time of the day/night. It might also be good idea to put umbrellas (one or two) on the rest of the patio.
Inside the cottage is great. Very spacious, clean, very cottage feeling. Basement was a bit chilly, but we did not spend anytime there to be honest. Internet was very slow (1Mps), so could not watch Netflix. But we brought our own DV player and DVDs so not a big thing. We all need a break from internet sometimes.

Our family spent a wonderful week at the Pine View cottage. We found the cottage clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything you could possibly need and then some. The views of the lake were terrific from every vantage point. We enjoyed using the canoe and kayaks and were pleasantly surprised to find a paddle boat there to use as well. The little beach is a great place to sit in an Adirondack chair and enjoy the tranquility of the lake or for little ones to play in the sand. It’s a shallow sandy entry into the water but unfortunately the beach disappeared completely after an afternoon of rain. To be expected with the water levels changing. Also the platforms (swim platform and viewing platform) that you see in the cottage photos are no longer there. The photos should be renewed to illustrate this. The screened in porch is such a bonus!!! We ate all of our meals and played board games there without being “bugged”. We loved the owners decor and really enjoyed all the potted plants, flowers and perennial gardens. There is plenty of lawn space for volleyball or badminton etc. and there are plenty of chairs, loungers etc for outdoor seating. The lower level of the cottage is bright and just as nice as the upstairs. Our teenager and her friend bunked down there and hung out in the recreation room quite happily. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone interested in renting the Pine View.
