Sam's Lake House was a great place to bring family together, enjoy the winter season with plenty of outdoor activities, and take advantage of Sir Sam's Inn next door for dining and drinking.

Two family rental for Family Day Weekend. Cottage offered plenty of space and amenities to accomodate our group... walking distance to ski hill (Sir Sams) and great having lift ticket discounts with cottage rental. Cold weekend so made good use of Hot Tub and Wood Stove... kitchen well stocked and very clean overall. Would be interested in renting again for winter use

Since we have been coming to Haliburton for over 36 years (more for my husband as he came as a child), it feels like home away from home for a week or two a year. This year we picked the best week of summer. The weather was beautiful! Eagle Lake glistened from morning till night! The view spectacular! Looking forward to another week in late summer at Marcus Beach. How fortunate we are!

This has been our fourth (fifth?) stay at Sam's Lake House and, as always, we had a wonderful time. Even the weather cooperated so that we had a week of beautiful sunshine. We have always enjoyed our time at Sam's and this was no exception. Everything you could ask for and more. My only suggestion would be to put a large screen TV in the living room - say 60 or 70 inches would be fine - just kidding. Hope to be able to make it back next year.

A weekend getaway for women friends, we laughed, cooked, played, sang, canoed, hiked, lazed about, watched the stars from the hot tub, giggled, cried and nurtured each other. Thank you.

This is the third time a group (8) of us have rented this great cottage. It's beautiful, has more than everything you need. It's big, beautiful, with lots of options for private sleeping quarters. The main room has super high ceilings, a great wood-burning stove. There's a lower floor full of large, almost bar style games - mini-billiards and the like. Canoes, kayaks and a great, large hottub. The owners are incredible. It's a gem and we'll be coming back for years.

Fantastic Family Get-Together at Sam's Lake House

My parent, my brother and his family met with my family for New Year's 2016. There were three children ages 3, 5 and 7 who had so much fun sliding down the hill next to the house, and throoughly enjoyed the ski hill. JD was a big help at the hill, and ensured we had a locker to store our equipment which was a bonus. The ski hill is a short distance from the house, which made it easy if someone needed to go back for a nap. The hot tub was fun for after skiing, and there was ample sleeping spaces for all of us (9 in total). There were doors that blocked off the sleeping area from the kitchen/living room which helped when the kids were asleep. The wood stove made the space cozy for games with the kids and card games. This was such a fun vacation - will definitely return!

It was my fourth time at Sam's Lake House! My friends and I really enjoy the spacious and warm atmosphere. The proximity to the ski hill is a real bonus. The hot tub is always a big hit as well. This year, we even shovelled a mini skating rink on the lake! Perhaps we'll visit again in the summer.

The weather this summer has been very unpredictable. And unfortunately our week started out cool and wet. But the cottage was welcoming with the warmth from the burning fire upon our arrival. The games room provided entertainment when the weather didn't cooperate. Eagle lake was wonderful for kayaking and canoeing. We explored the lake every day. The children enjoyed splashing in the shallow area. They loved feeding the ducks and the chipmunk. And to everyone's delight a doe and her two fawns strolled across the lawn one morning. Roasting marshmallows around the camp fire was our evening ritual. One negative, was that the lawn was very wet. Not sure if that was due to the wet summer weather or underground springs. We had to be careful when walking across the lawn. The cottage had ample room to accommodate our group of seven adults and three children. The kitchen had the necessities to prepare our meals. The bbq was a good size and very clean. May I suggest that VRBO clean out the cupboard beneath the kitchen sink. There is way to many products and it is very cluttered. We enjoyed our holiday and hope others will relax and enjoy the charm of Sam's Lake House.

Stayed for one week in August with our three children, their spouses and our grandchildren. All had a grand time. Location was excellent, lots to do, cottage was clean and roomy enough. Our only negative is that we found the living area and kitchen pretty dark at night. The ceiling fan retrofitted with lights on a dimmer would make a huge difference. Overall, we were very pleased and will likely do it again next year (if you'll have us!).
