We love this cottage like it’s our own. This is our 5th year at Sandcastles. We love the sandy beach especially having small children. The water is very clean and just the right depth. The cottage is clean and accommodates many. We also love that it is close to town. The neighbors are super friendly and always there to lend a helping hand. We look forward to our stay next year.

Disappointed

We enjoyed the cottage very much and it was great to have the use of the bunkie as well as we have 20 year olds in our party and we all appreciated the privacy this provided. It was spacious and clean but the one bathroom presented a problem with 8 people. A second bath in the bunkie would be awesome!! One thing we were very upset about was that we experienced two power outages that were apparently scheduled outages and we were not informed prior. The first was for 6 hours and occurred at dinner and into the evening which was very cold. The next was in the am and again affected breakfast. This was a huge inconvenience and we feel we should have not only known but been compensated for. Another thing to mention is there are two kayaks however there are no life jackets as listed and this is not only dangerous but not what was promised. The kayaks also did not come with bailing kits. The beach was nice but if you don't have boats or toys to enjoy the beautiful bay be prepared to be bored by the end of week. Enjoy.

All-Season Cottage Rentals' Response:

Please understand that we have no control over planned power outages. Due to bad weather, there were a few outages this summer but they are typically very localized and for short periods of time.;

If you are looking for a grand lakefront house, this place may not be for you.However, if you are looking for a beautiful clean lake and perfect sand beach with gentle, gradual entry, and the homey cottage of our childhood memories, you may find this place as perfect as we did. We were lucky in the lovely weather, and spent almost all week on the beach or in he lake. My grandkids had a spectacular time, paddling, making castles, and learning to swim. The main cottage is simple but nicely designed, with a big common room to enjoy. The bunkie provided some needed privacy for afternoon naps. We are definitely booking again next summer! Only negatives would be the size of the dock (too narrow to sunbathe and not long enough to fish from) and the darned deer, horse and moose flies! They were not as bad after we raked the leaves and seeds that had washed up on the beach, and seemed to give them a cozy place to launch their attacks!

Perfect location for young children

We were very pleased with Sandcastles and the ease of booking. We had 5 children under 5 years old with us and the beach and swimming were perfect for their age. We enjoyed the kayaking on the calm waters of the bay and were treated to the sight of resident deer strolling through the yard. We weren't secluded, but the setting made us feel that we were in touch with nature. The cottage itself was very well equipped. The only thing that I felt could have improved our comfort, (and this is minor) would be a small shelf in the bathroom. We would certainly be very happy to visit this lovely spot in the future.

The Perfect Cottage!

We have stayed at many cottages over the years and haven't yet found one that we would return to... Until we went to Sandcastles! We have several young children and the beach and water area was great for them - sandy, shallow and warm. The cottage has a good set up - everything that was needed. While it isn't secluded, it was very quiet. We would love to go back again!

The cottage is located on a wonderful cove that offers a sandy beach and a nice location for watersports. The cottage is rustic and quaint which was exactly what we are hoping for. It was a very quiet location just outside of town. A nice location to attend activities in local communities. Unfortunately we were there during a very cool summer week. We did find nights and mornings in the cottage quiet cool. Overall we we very pleased with our stay.

This was a great experience. Great beach. Quiet. Great for my mom who uses a walker. It was the first time at a cottage for my grandchildren and they loved it. Loft was definitely best for children. Thank you.

The location was fantastic for our family. We loved the sandy beach, and the shallow water was perfect for our grandchildren and our grandpuppies. It was really good having the bunkie as well as the main cottage, as we never felt crowded and it meant there was always a place for a nice, quiet nap. There was plenty of room for indoor and outdoor eating. Everyone enjoyed the campfires. We really appreciated how close it was to Haliburton, as we made several trips in during our week there. We would have appreciated better quality mattresses on the beds, and for the cooler nights a space heater or two wouldn't go amiss. A composting toilet would be a great addition to the bunkie, if possible. Also, we would suggest a note on the fridge reminding renters that the garbage dump does not take dark bags. This was an ideal location for quiet, peaceful relaxation. We look forward to renting again next summer!

Great and disappointing cottage.

Our stay at this cottage was unfortunate for all concerned. Both the owner and our family were robbed of a very poor and strange weather season. I've never experienced a summer with such cold nights in August. That was unfortunate. That said, this cottage was lacking and poorly equipped to offer any source of heat for comfort at night. The 2 small heaters that were supplied were useless (honestly). We cut our stay because it was so cold. I don't think this cottage could meet the standards needed for an inside 'wood burning' stove but someone should explore the possibilities. There was a central ceiling fan in the living area that did not work and it had a cake of dust on the top of the blades with spider webs falling over the sides. I know it's cottage living but this was not acceptable. I would have been happy to pay a cleaner and additional $100.00 to clean before we arrived. We left the cottage much cleaner than we had found it. Finally, forgetting the living arrangements, the location and the beach were the saving features. It was delightful to have access to and we enjoyed most of our stay on the beach relaxing. The weather during the day, when the sun was out, was perfect.
