Overall the cottage was very nice, but a couple of key things could be improved which would make a huge difference for the comfort of the guests.
The living room sofa and chairs are very uncomfortable. A vacation at a cottage is all about comfort – watching a movie, playing a board game, enjoying an afternoon nap on a rainy day – and both the sofa and chair provided in this cottage's living room are awful. Replacing the existing sofa with a cozy and comfortable sofa and a pair of comfortable arm chairs would make a huge difference. The cottage has three bedrooms and so increasing this area to accommodate more people comfortably would be great.
The mattresses in the bedroom also need replacing as they too are not comfortable and everyone had sore backs in the morning.
And personally, if I owned the cottage, I would try to add lounge furniture to the deck rather than only have a dining table. It would just make the space more liveable and comfortable.
Also, I do think that a couple of water jugs for the water dispenser should be provided for guests. We brought our own water but it would be very much appreciated. Guests are paying hotel-room rates here so this is a small thing but would mean a lot.

All-Season Cottage Rentals' Response:
Thanks for staying at Soaring Pines and for providing feedback. We are glad to hear that you found the cottage to be very nice overall and look forward to having you back for your second week later this summer! We have shared your suggestions with the cottage owners. As always, they are very responsive to constructive criticism and plan to replace the living room sofa and chairs with improved seating for summer of 2025. We understand the comfort of bed mattresses is a very subjective personal preference (firm vs soft), however the owners find them to be quite comfortable for their own use and we have not previously received any complaints about them. The cottage deck is a good size but unfortunately not large enough for both a dining table set and lounge furniture, but there is a double Muskoka chair on the balcony section with a good view of the lake. With this space limitation we find the majority of guests prefer having the dining table set to enjoy summer meals outdoors rather than lounge furniture. Soaring Pines is a modest, traditional 3-season family cottage. The owners work hard to ensure that it is well equipped and comfortable for themselves and their guests, while remaining a budget friendly rental option at the lower end of the rental rates range for the Haliburton area.
Our stay in July was a great experience and we enjoyed most of time on the dock. Not far away is Gibson Rd where we were able to get some good stones and mineral rocks. This cottage had everything you would need and fits 6 people nicely. Come check it out

Spent a week with 3 adults and one child (age range 6-70). Really good layout and lots of different areas to hang out- fire pit by the cottage, large deck, down at the lake/boathouse. Lots of practical supplies and thoughtful details that made the stay easy. We had one rain day and there was plenty of games, books and movies to comfortably pass the day looking out at the lake. Lots of stairs, but typical for Haliburton highlands. There are sitting areas in the shade or sun by the water, and a mini-fridge in the boathouse so easy to setup down by the water for the day if you don't want to climb the stairs too often. We loved all of the options to be on the water, kayaks, paddle boat, canoe, all in good working order. Great swimming and not too busy with boat traffic since it is on a narrow section of the lake. Privacy was average on the weekend for cottage country, but nice and quiet during the week. Would definitely stay again. About 15-20min from the village for supplies (Farmer's market, shops, restaurants).

The cottage and site are a good size as we were a family of four + a dog. The cottage has a good selection of kitchen amenities and is well supplied. Previously, at other rentals, this has not been our experience.
It's clean and the bunk beds are comfortable. Swimming off the dock was good for our kids even with the swallow water and warning sign. Be prepared when either leaving your vehicle or going to the water to/from the cottage and the grade is a workout if done twice in a row. Neighbours are friendly and pleasant. This cottage is true to the description and we would recommend staying here.

The Soaring Pine is located to a very quiet place into the woods. The road is perfect for long walk into the nature. Very peaceful and quiet location. Very nice neighborhood. The bottom of the lake is not a clear sand but very good for swimming and watersports. The cleanliness of the cottage was kind of average. The owners could work on clearing the bugs within the windows and sweeping the deck. I wouldn't hesitate to go back as it is a place to relax and regain energy and away from technologies. Good cottage for family vacation.
