The biggest plus to this vacation rental is its location. Tranquil, private setting on lovely, smallish lake with very few cottages and no motor traffic. Hard to find that kind of serenity.
The ‘cottage’ itself is very clean, modern, pleasant, and functioned well for our group of 5. However, it lacks a few home comforts - like one or two living room chairs to supplement the seating when the sofa is fully occupied. And a side lamp or dimmer switch or two to soften the harsh overhead lighting.
The bedrooms have comfy beds but, aside from the main one, there is nothing and nowhere on which to hang clothes and they could also use a few more reading lamps and a mirror or two.
For cooks, the kitchen is missing some basics. Yes, an excellent cutting board but no sharp knives, no spatulas, no serving bowls or serving spoons, not enough good pots or cutlery or wine glasses - all stuff that could be rectified with an inexpensive trip to the dollar store.
The lovely big deck has only two loungers and the outdoor dining chairs are much too low to eat comfortably at the mismatched-sized dining table.
However, we did have a lovely week and I normally wouldn’t grumble about these things. But given the hefty $5K+ weekly rental fee, I would have hoped for a bit more generosity when considering the comfort of the guests.
