Cozy cottage with great sunset location.

Hi there, My partner and I really enjoyed the cottage at TrailsEnd. It was just the right amount of 'cozy' with wood walls through-out, lots of wildlife pictures, a cute and practical kitchen and bbq, and enough beds and bedrooms for everyone (we sleep in separate rooms so that was a big bonus). The owners have stocked their shelves with some very interesting books - i read White Fang by Jack London when I was there, which seemed especially fitting with the Wolf Center so close by. The cottage does not have good internet service, which we got used to after awhile (a bit like going through withdrawal!) and it turned out be be actually great NOT to be able to access the web, as it made undistracted reading an absolute pleasure. We loved the location of the cottage high in the woods and especially the location of the dock in a quiet bay with lots of privacy and splendid afternoon sun and sunsets. I brought a laser sailboat up to the cottage which thankfully i was able to put into the water at a nearby launch ramp just down the road. The laser was great for helping us explore the rather large Kennisis Lake. As far as the weather went, it was pretty mixed, with it being really cold and rainy when we arrived, and so we were thankful to be able to warm up with the wood stove. Luckily the sun came out on most days and so were were able to enjoy also some great afternoons and evenings basking in the sun on the dock. We really enjoyed our stay at Trails end and would consider renting there again. It felt like a "true cottage" and was a peaceful and relaxing getaway for us both. Thanks! Rob and Laurie. P.S. One negative was the left sink in the kitchen which leaked into a bucket below the counter. I discovered it after doing the dishes and letting a full sink of water drain...wasn't sure why my feet were getting wet! and saw that the pressure of a full sink of water was too much for the pipe. (its held together with wire) After that we only rinsed dishes in the left sink, so then the leaking wasn't so bad. Needs to be fixed!

All-Season Cottage Rentals' Response:

Thank-you for the 'heads up' about the sink. We will let the owner know that repairs are needed.

It's worth the looooong drive. There couldn't be a more perfect setting.... towering pines... great swimming.... privacy...ducks.... loons... wild turkeys... mother doe and 2 fawns.... The lack of WiFi and clear cell connection can be frustrating.... However.... the whole point is to be free from all the day-to-day encomberances, right? The large screened-in porch is where you can eat, read or just "be". Ahhhhhh We wish there was more space/organization/upgrades in the kitchen... however it's very functional. Lovely ceiling fans help circulate the air during heat waves. Perfect sunsets that occur almost nightly will bring a stillness to your heart.

We spent one wonderful week at Trailsend cottage. It is a very nice cottage and larger than it looks on the pictures. It was lovely, peaceful and relaxing. The lake is gorgeous and great for swimming, kayaking and watching beautiful sunsets. We enjoyed our time there and would definitely love to come back again.

This was our 2nd time to Trail's End... this time we had 3 glorious weeks. On 19 of the 21 days there, we went to the dock and toasted the KILLER sunsets... they are unlike any other sunsets because the sun is due west and there's almost always a little breeze causing the lake to sparkle silver and gold... so lovely you could burst! This was, of course, after a day of swimming and playing with the ducks and smiling big goofy smiles at the loons. p.s. Our fantasy is that the owners will just give the place to us and then we'd never leave it!

We were blessed in just having spent 2 glorious weeks at Trail's End. The vista... the swimming... the huge stone fireplace... the screened-in porch... the comfortable beds... the smell of the pine floor surrounding the cottage... the ducks and loons... and the knee-knocking sunsets and moonscapes >>>> all this was worth every penny. We had a plumbing problem which the owner dealt with quickly. And, just a word to some folks: it's quite a long walk down to the lake ( But it's not steep ... so just take your time... the steps are safe as is the handrail) and if you need to get to a hospital quickly, this incredible cottage would not be apporpriate for you ... we had an incident which took us 45 minutes with barely any traffic to get to the hospital in Haliburton ( they were wonderful). This place will be in our dreams for months to come...

The cottage, nestled in the woods, gives a private feeling. Trailsend cannot be seen from the lake. The cozy atmosphere of this well equipped cottage is very relaxing. Located on a sheltered bay, swimming, boating, and viewing sunsets was most pleasureable.
