Kurt Browning to MC Winter Senior Games in Haliburton

Senior Games - Sir Sams SkiHaliburton County will be hosting over 1,000 athletes, officials, and spectators from February 17 - 19, 2015 as part of the 2015 Ontario 55+ Winter Games.  Kurt Browning, a Canadian figure skater, choreographer and commentator will MC the event.  He is a four-time World Champion, four-time Canadian National Champion and three-time Olympian, earning the priveledge of carrying the CAnadian flag during the opening ceremonies of the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway.

The competition is over 2 days with more than 1,000 athletes participating.  Athletes will be competing in 10 sporting events at 14 venues throughout the Haliburton Highlands.  Athletes range in age from 55 to over 84.  The sporting events are:  Alpine skiing, badminton, curling, hockey, duplicate bridge, Nordic skiing, prediction skating, table tennis, ten-pin bowling, volleyball.

Kurt Browning has had a cottage on Mountain Lake, north of Minden since 2000 and is a familiar face as he takes part in all Haliburton has to offer.  He has skied at Sir Sam's and has organized rehearsal time for Stars on Ice at the S.G. Nesbitt Memorial Arena in Minden.  It will add some glitz and excitement to have a Canadian hero being part of this provincial event.
