The Haliburton Highlands is a year-round destination for adventurers. One of the most popular places to start your exploration is the Haliburton Forest, offering 100,000 acres of undeveloped wilderness for hiking, biking, camping, and winter recreation. Within the forest, you can also visit Ontario’s resident wolf pack at the Haliburton Wolf Centre. This centre offers an observatory where you can see these majestic animals up close and museum exhibits where you can learn all about the life of the pack! Stay with us at All-Season Cottage Rentals and access the adventures and experiences of Haliburton Forest right down the road from your cabin!
Haliburton Wolf Centre General Information
The Haliburton Wolf Centre is a 5,000-square-foot indoor facility featuring museum-style exhibits, a cinema for educational videos, a large indoor observatory, and a souvenir shop. The only way to view the wolves is through the one-way glass inside the building. During the summer months, you can join public wolf howls and howl along with the pack!
Keep in mind that the wolf enclosure is over seven acres and the wolves are only sometimes visible from the observation areas. You can purchase admission tickets online here!
Special Experiences
In addition to the museum and exhibits, you can also sign up for unique experiences at the Haliburton Wolf Centre with Yours Outdoors.
Painting with Wolves
Travelers with an artistic spirit can join the painting with wolves class with local artist Harvey Walker. This experience is a step-by-step painting class for beginners who want to capture the majestic beauty of wolves.
Wolf Howl and Hike
The Wolf Howl and Hike experience offers a private tour of the Wolf Centre and a leisurely evening hike through the forest. Your guide will take you to the right spot and howl to initiate a response from the pack.
Activities at Haliburton Forest
While you are at the Haliburton Wolf Centre, we encourage you to explore all the activities the reserve offers, no matter what season you visit. The spring, summer, and fall seasons provide hiking trails, canopy tours, stargazing, rock climbing, and camping.
