What began as two locally rooted, family-run companies—All-Season Cottage Rentals and Cottage Care Rentals—has come together to form one stronger, unified team with a shared passion for Ontario’s cottage country.
Built on decades of experience, community connection, and a deep appreciation for the Haliburton Highlands and surrounding regions, we are dedicated to helping guests experience the magic of cottage life while supporting owners through trusted, hands-on management.
Together, we carry forward the legacy of both brands: All-Season’s tradition of personal service and premium rentals, and Cottage Care’s focus on sustainability, property care, and meaningful guest experiences. United, we’re shaping the next chapter of cottage rentals—one that blends care, innovation, and local expertise.
All-Season Cottage Rentals Journey
Founded in 2000 with a simple mission—to connect cottage owners with unused weeks to visitors seeking the comfort, charm, and authenticity of a private waterfront retreat—All-Season Cottage Rentals has grown from 12 cottages to a carefully curated collection of more than 100 properties throughout the Haliburton Highlands.
The company was established by Janice Bishop, who fell in love with the region in the late 1980s while working in tourism marketing. Her commitment to personal service and local expertise became the foundation of the business.
In 2012, her son J.T. Lowes joined the company, bringing over two decades of hospitality experience. After assuming day-to-day operations in 2017 and full leadership in 2023, J.T. continues to uphold the company’s tradition of exceptional service while shaping its future as a leader in Ontario’s short-term rental industry.
All-Season Cottages is also a founding member of the Ontario Cottage Rental Managers Association (OCRMA), where J.T. has served as Secretary and currently holds the roles of Treasurer and Director. His work with the OCRMA has helped advance professional standards and collaboration across the industry—often alongside future partners Cheryl and Don from Cottage Care Rentals.
J.T. Lowes
Owner - President
Recognized as an industry expert, J.T. has been featured in outlets such as Cottage Life, CBC, and CTV. He is a member of the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO), the Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), and is a founding Director and current Treasurer of the Ontario Cottage Rental Managers Association. Under his leadership, All-Season Cottage Rentals continues to set the standard for premium cottage rental management in Ontario.
Cottage Care Rentals Journey
Founded in 2013, Cottage Care Rentals & Property Management was created to meet the growing demand for full-service cottage rental and property management in Ontario’s cottage country. Serving the Haliburton, Muskoka, Kawartha, and Algonquin regions, the company quickly became known for connecting caring Guests with Owners who wanted to share and maintain their cottages while offsetting expenses.
Don Critchley and Cheryl McCombe co-founded Cottage Care after relocating to Haliburton to pursue a more meaningful connection with the lakes and communities they loved. Don brought decades of leadership experience from a successful career in information technology, while Cheryl applied her background in marketing, business development, and news media—where she held executive and ownership roles—to help grow the company and strengthen its community ties.
Much like All-Season, Cottage Care evolved as a family business. Cheryl’s daughter, Stephanie, joined the company in 2019 and now carries its values forward with a strong focus on environmental stewardship and community involvement. As Chair of Friends of Ecological and Environmental Learning (FEEL), she champions initiatives that support healthy lakes and ecosystems. Within Cottage Care, she oversees Owner and Guest relations, property care teams, photography, and social media—all guided by a commitment to sustainability and non-toxic, low-waste practices.
Cottage Care is also a founding member of the Ontario Cottage Rental Managers Association (OCRMA), with Cheryl serving as Chair and Director for several years and Don as Treasurer and Director. Their leadership in OCRMA paralleled J.T.’s contributions through All-Season, and together they helped establish the collaborative framework that continues to strengthen Ontario’s cottage rental industry today.

With over six (6) years of experience in the cottage rental industry as Co-Owner of Cottage Care Rentals Inc., Stephanie brings deep expertise in business administration and property maintenance management. She holds a BA Honours from Guelph University and has gained extensive international and domestic experience across a variety of fields. Passionate about networking, volunteerism, and environmental stewardship, Stephanie brings vision, depth, and a commitment to excellence to All-Season Cottage Rentals.
