Enjoy peace, serenity and nature at it's best on the lovely non-motorized Ross Lake. This two bedroom, one washroom cottage boasts gleaming floor to ceiling hand crafted Pine wood. The newly renovated kitchen and living room are open concept and tastefully decorated. During the cooler months the wood stove provides a super cozy atmosphere. Enjoy the view of the lake and local wildlife through the large, floor to ceiling windows. Lounge on the deck equipped with two BBQ's (propane and charcoal), picnic table and additional seating, or down by the lake on lakeside deck and dock. The lakeside fire pit is perfect for enjoying evening fires. There are two kayaks and paddle boat available to explore or fish Ross Lake (trout and bass). With SW exposure you will enjoy beautiful sunsets and all day sun. For those that like to ATV or snowmobile, the cottage is 2 minutes from OFSC trails, or private trails at Haliburton Forest & Wildlife Reserve (permits are required).

Cute cottage on nice lake

Stayed for a week with adult children. Ross Lake is non-motorized and the cleanest lake water we have been on in years. It was quiet even with multiple neighbouring cottages. Cottage was very nice inside. Beds comfy. Ceiling fans managed the heat for us-but in hotter weather there's an a/c in LR (didn't try it so not sure how it works). Had to reach out to owner for 1 minor issue (garbage tag missing)-she was very responsive and polite. Offered to get another one but we just paid for the bag at the landfill instead (our choice). 2 firepits outside and multiple sitting areas. Gas BBQ provided-didn't use it though.The only suggestions I would give are to maybe consider some midsummer maintenance like tapping down nails that are popping up on deck stairways and dock to reduce tripping potentials/supporting straight dock better so it moves less when walking on it and possible larger floating dock area-we love fishing and could only fish 2 at a time. But this is not a short fall of the cottage just more personal preference for my family.

What a peaceful getaway.
It is a very welcoming & accommodating piece of property. It was great to enjoy the solitude while putting the outside world on the back burner . Side trips to Ft. Irwin ( ice cream ) & Haliburton ( groceries ) were always a must. Our dog Sophie just loved the lake but was not too thrilled with the fly population.We would love to be considered for same time next year.

Good but needs maintenance
We loved the place but there was things to improve such as the stove took time to turn on, there was spoiled food in the microwave the first day we got there, the sofa bed was not very comfortable and there was balls of human hair in the floor beside the sofa and fireplace.

Beautiful and quiet cottage
Beckers place is a lovely cabin in the woods on a super quiet lake with no motor boats. The neighbours are not super close. The lake is very clean and perfect for swimming. The outdoor space is great with 3 seating areas for sunsets and moonlit nights.

Cozy cabin on lakefront property
Becker's Place was just as described. The cottage was fully appointed in modern design with interesting accents. An A frame log cabin with a beautiful view of a clean and quiet lake . Hope to return soon. Owners responded quickly to an inquiry

Fabulous holiday
Wonderful holiday…beautiful setting, quiet , clean, enjoyed sitting on the dock and paddling around in the kayak. The cottage is very nice and comfortable with good access to lake, Roos Lake is good - very quiet, no motors allowed. Tiny issue for overseas visitors is no washing wachine! Lack of dishwsher not a problem!

Pristine Connection with the Environment

We love it at Becker's Place - this is our second time renting there during the winter months. It is well appointed and has everything a small family could need. The property is a winter paradise, with great snowshoeing, and skiing nearby (at Sir Sam's). An enjoyable drive into Haliburton - with lots of restaurants and shops featuring local wares...and ice skating at the local rink. Our 7 year old son had a wonderful time!

Very nice but...

This is a very nice cottage on a spectacular lake. Lots of wildlife, sunsets and campfires and we had near perfect weather. We did have a very nice stay lots to do in the area.However it is in need of a thorough cleaning in the kitchen. There is a lingering smell from years of cooking. The rest of the cottage was very clean.FYI - the two bedrooms do not have closets and there is no heat in the bathroom. There are two kayaks - one adult and one child. I was hoping for two adult kayaks.Make sure you wear shoes. There are lots of small stumps and loose stones.

Great Getaway on Ross Lake

Becker's Place is a great get away on a small but very clean lake.We have been renting up in the Haliburton area for the last 20 years and this is definitely one of our favorite spots.The cottage was perfect for the two of us (and canine companions) with all the amenities you need in a very private setting.No cell reception that can be good or bad but a great way to cut the chains of work.Full internet that kept us entertained in the evenings.We will definitely look to return again next year.

Cozy and Perfect!

This cottage was perfect for our family of 6! The interior was cozy, clean and tastefully decorated. Everything we needed was there with some nice kitchen extras! Upon arrival, we didn't find the canoe, and after contacting the owner a canoe arrived in 30 minutes! The lake is small, but quiet, clear and perfect for swimming. We enjoyed the use of the canoe, kayaks, paddle boat and other water equipment.

A perfect, simple getaway

If you are looking for a private, simple, clean, lovely little cottage to leave all the chaos behind, this is your place. The owners have thought of everything, tastefully decorated, with everything that you could need or want. We were there in winter, the fireplace kept us toasty warm and we loved the quiet and solitude. It would be a lovely spot in summer. We cannot wait to go back and this will be our go-to winter getaway spot.

Great location on a beautiful little lake

We had a wonderful time - the cottage was spotless, the beds were amazing, and we had everything we needed. Love, love, love an outdoor shower, and this one is up off the ground, so there were few spiders, etc. We especially enjoyed kayaking around the lake, which was clean and quiet due to the lack of motors on the lake. We also spent a lot of time sitting down by the lake with the bluetooth speaker, just relaxing with a drink, listening to music. The owners were very responsive and helpful when we had some challenges with electronics and phone reception. The only think we found confusing was the recycle sorting because it is so much more detailed than our own.
Thanks for your review! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your time at the cottage. Yes, recycling is a little easier up here in cottage country. Glass, plastic and metal all go in the same container. Paper products need to go into a separate container. Food waste just goes in the regular garbage.

Awesome, Just what I needed to relax for the weekend!

Couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Me and the girls spent our birthdays together up at this cottage and it was wonderful. The place is just the right size so its not too much work to keep up. Its truly a vacation with minimal cleaning. We will all go back next year! I'm even thinking about taking my family back next month for the holidays.

Good Times!

Girls weekend away! Becker's Place was perfect. The cottage was the perfect size and offered everything we could need. Stayed three nights and would have stayed more if work didn't get in the way. Although the weather was on the cooler side we managed to get outside and enjoy a paddle in the kayak, walked one of the trails, BBQ and sat outside to watch Mother Nature do her thing. We loved the extra touches… Keurig coffee ready to go, fire starter packets making the fire a quick start, and headlamps to use while outside in the dark.I hope to do it again and bring the family next time. It's an easy place to feel at home in.

Modern and comfortable

Nicely finished cottage, with attractive modern style. Features all of the appliances and amenities we needed, including wi-fi to keep the kids entertained when the weather's not great. We visited in mid-March, when snow was still on the ground and the lake was still frozen, so I can't entirely speak to the waterfront - but we were impressed by what we saw - a small (presumably) quiet, motor-free lake with what appeared to be a graduated sand entry which would be great for dogs.In all, we'd love to get the chance to visit again during warmer weather as it's the perfect size and setup for a small family.
