All rooms are situated on the same floor of the main cottage. The beach is amazing with water that deepens very gradually making it toddler friendly. There is a screened porch, perfect for quiet morning coffees watching the sun rise. The deck overlooking the lake has a patio set for dining outdoors plus safety gates to keep your toddlers safe. Perfect cottage rental for those with young children

We have rented Island View Cottage several years now and absolutely love it. Our group consists of young kids including some who cannot swim. Our favourite thing about this cottage is how shallow the water is pretty far out so that everyone can play in the water safely. This also makes getting in and out of the provided kayaks and boats easy, especially for the kids. The kids love how sandy it is in the water all the way out past the dock since they wont swim if it is weedy. The shallow water combined with the sandy beach area keeps them busy all day. And when they're done in the water the large yard includes a play structure with a slide, swing and tire swing, and plenty of toys. There is a great view of the lake from the fire pit and also the deck where the BBQ is. Could not recommend more

Multi-generational family getaway
This is our third year staying at this cottage and it has consistently been wonderful year after year. The cottage is well-stocked and everything is well-organized and labeled. It is very clean, and the beach area is a highlight for our three young children. We don’t need to bring any toys or entertainment, as the cottage provides outdoor toys and lawn games. The main cottage has ample space for all of us. The outside grounds are well-maintained and water entry is easy to navigate for grandma who has mobility issues. It is truly perfect for our family!

Perfect for Family Vacations

This cottage has a beautiful view of Canning Lake and the deck is perfect for relaxing with that view. We had 5 children with us ages 11 - 5 months and the kids never got bored. They had 2 climbers, a big one and a smaller one with a slide, toys in the cottage and children's kyacks that they could practice on in the shallow water or get towed behinds their parents. The beach is also great for kids as it is shallow for a long ways out. As for the baby, there was a crib, change table, and so many other baby related items for her to be comfortable and allow her parents to also enjoy their staty. The only minor complaint I would have is the living room furniture and the double bed I slept in could use replacing in the near furture. All in all it was money well spent for a week with the whole family to connet and have a great time. Thank you so much

Wonderful location for families

Lovely cottage with great shallow waterfront for toddlers and young kids. Excellent lot with TONS of things for kids to do. Cottage was super clean and big enough for all us to enjoy the stay together. The A/C was great because the humidity was high so sleeping was very comfortable. Having the washer/dryer with the kids made a big difference for not having to overpack! We will be back 🙂

This cottage can accommodate multiple families. It has space and its equipped with everything you need. They provide outdoor/beach equipment. Wonderful beach. Definitely would rent again.

Great place for the whole family

Our whole family got together here- grandparent, kids, grandkids. The cottage is extremely well equipped, particularly for young families, clean and very comfortable. The sandy beach is hardback and the water shallow, which is good for little ones. Lots of lawn space for games and kids to run around, a great fire pit and sunsets.

Beach entry great for small kids
We enjoyed our stay and all the extras available for small kids. There is a shallow beach entry and loved the kids kayaks! There is even a field for playing games. Recommend for families with children.

Perfect Family Vacation

This cottage was perfect for our needs. We had 3 families, consisting of 6 adults and 4 children between 9 and 4yrs. The beach is very shallow so kids had a ball and adults could relax at the shore. View was beautiful and the cottage and garage apartment allowed everyone just enough privacy to be enjoyable. We especially enjoyed the kayaks, paddle boat and canoe. Two of our kids discovered they loved the kid sized kayaks and were quite good at it. The toys in the cottage and the climbers outside kept the kids entertained all week. We brought our dogs with us as they are part of our family & they had a great time exploring the property and swimming in the lake with the kids. We also called the owners with some questions and they were very helpful and friendly.We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone with kids.

Outstanding Multi-Family Rental

So much to say about this cottage - first of all, it is equipped with everything a family might need for a week away - much more than indicated in the write-up. It was very easy to get to and close to Minden (groceries, LCBO). We rented a pontoon and SeaDoo from a marina a few attached lakes away and just parked there and boated back to the cottage.Inside the cottage, everything was clearly labelled, making it easy to find whatever you might need (and they had everything you might need). The bedrooms were nicely separated via a door that afforded privacy from the main living area. The "bunkie" was another level of privacy that was simply superb.Outside, the firepit area was welcome at the end of the day, and the availability of kayaks, canoes and paddleboat gave the kids hours of entertainment. Cannot recommend this place more, especially if you have small children.

Wonderful Family Cottage Great Vacation

We have just returned from a most wonderful week at Island View on Canning Lake. The cottage was perfect for our 3 grown children and their spouses along with our two grandchildren. We had to bring nothing for the two little ones, everything was there which made the vacation so easy. The play structures were a bonus for our little grandson. The water front is lovely and we enjoyed lots of swimming and boating. Cottage is so well equipped and clean. We are looking at booking again next summer. Perfect spot for the extended family.

Great stay with all the amenities!
The place was great, thank you! Roomier than the pictures suggest, with lots of space for our family of 8 adults and 4 kids. Large enough property for lots of fun and came with tons of toys and all the comforts of home. Highly recommend for families with kids!Also, great company and owner to deal with.

Perfect Family Cottage!
We stayed at Island View Cottage for a week in July and it was fantastic! We were an extended family group with seniors and very young children and it met everyone's needs. There was lots of space indoors and out and it's equipped with everything you could possibly need. It's on a beautiful, quiet lake and right between Minden and Halliburton which is convenient for grocery shopping, etc. The owners were very helpful and easy to get in touch with. We will definitely be back!

Our time at the cottage was very relaxing. The cottage is very clean and everything is labelled so it is easy to find inside. The yard is nice and big, lots of room to play games. The fire pit is clean ,with stone all around area. The best part has to be the sand beach. We spent everyday down on the beach enjoying the water and how warm it was. Very close to all your shopping needs. It is an all around perfect place, to enjoy a family vacation. This one is one of the best we have stayed at in the last 10 yrs. Thank -you so much for a family vacation, we will remember for years to come. Hoping to go back again next year.

Paradise found at Islandview

Our stay at Islandview cottage on Cannng Lake with our families this July was amazing! The location was easily accessible from the main road and offered us scenic walks along the beautiful cottage-lined roads. It was also only 10 mins from Minden which had a grocery store, LCBO, gas station & Timmies! The cottage was clean and stacked with supplies and all the modern amenities. The large deck offered an excellent view of the property and beachfront where we could comfortably dine and watch our children play. The multitude of water toys - rowboat, canoe, kayak, paddleboat and more gave us hours of enjoyment and enabled us to explore the lake and adjoining lake Kashagawigamog. The sand beach also offered a very shallow shoreline which allowed our kids to walk out very far before hitting deep water! We would definitely visit again!

This is a nice cottage

We rented this particular cottage for a family vacation because of the baby items that were included: crib, playpen, change table etc. Having all of that on site meant that we didn't have to lug it up with us!There is a lovely sandy beach however, I didn't expect "shallow entry" would mean that you could walk out 100m and not get to water over your kneecaps. Swimming was impossible.
