Great fishing, beautiful beach & cottage.

Excellent cottage, really enjoyed our stay here. Great having 2 separate living rooms with TV’s as it rained a few days. Great quiet location with nice yard to play games on. Ladder Toss was a huge hit. Kitchen had all the necessary amenities. Definitely recommend!!

Perfect for young kids

Owners were very helpful to us when we had to cut our stay a bit shorter than anticipated, they were very easy going about it. They also communicated pretty quickly with us when we had reached out, which was nice.We found that the cottage needed a good vacuuming in the main area, but it wasn't a big deal to us to do this quickly. The place was tidy overall and ready for us to put our things away. Beach area was great for our toddler to play in safely. We also found that the water all around the dock was quite shallow which worked for us. LOTS of water play items were available to use. The upper deck was also great to keep our toddler and dog enclosed safely (they had plenty of room to play too). Highchair was a nice feature that saved us room in the drive to the cottage. Throughout the cottage there were no major "hazards" sticking out -- it was tidy and we had no trouble tucking a few things away from our toddler's reach during our stay. The one room on 2nd floor also had a pretty great window covering that did a great job darkening the room during nap time! Lawn area was excellent for our dog to run around in, it was a decent size and super convenient.Was nice to have a well working dishwasher, and laundry setup. Lots of cooking equipment was available for us to use which we appreciated. Was nice that we did not need to refill the water jug, and more jugs were available to pop in.It was somewhat frustrating to park at the top of the hill and carry our things down to the cottage, as the driveway is incredibly steep. But depending on the vehicle, parking on the hill might be doable. Just got us a bit more exercise on our trip. BBQ was in great shape and was used quite a bit! 9/10 really great for us.

Overall excellent cottage

Excellent cottage. Pros: - decks / waterfront is outstanding. clear, unobstructed view of the lake. newer dock. 6 kayaks is unbelievably awesome. - starlink internet functioned very well, with 11 guests, each w/a device, very fast- owner was very responsive when we couldn't find a dump card- kitchen was extremely well equipped, BBQ functioned very well- pictures on the website are dated. decor was better than expected- 2 living rooms was appreciated, allowing people to seperate when in a large group- beds were comfortable- jetted tub was awesome, tooCons:- difficulties w/AC. Owner recently installed a heat pump/AC combo unit and was having trouble with it. Owner was very responsive to this issue. Not a big deal to us, but other prosepctive renters should be aware- somewhat difficult to find, private, narrow, bumpy road. We were used to cottaging on lakes closer to highway 118, this was our first time on Redstone Lake, and we were quite surprised at the experience. met lots of friendly neighbours on the road- not a big deal for us, however, the pedalboat appears broken, we didn't use it- the driveway is very steep, as noted by others. anyone with accessibility issues will find it difficult to use. the adjacent stairs were much apperciated. Perfect Thanksgiving Fall long weekend

We had a wonderful time at the cottage, the view, access to the lake and facilities were excellent. The owner was also very responsive when we had a small issue with the alarm system and made sure we were ok. The nearest grocery store etc are a bit of a drive but if you plan in advance should be ok. Would not hesitate to book again.

Great Holiday

Six adults and four children enjoyed our stay at the Lonesome Spruce. Well equipped cottage, comfortable beds. Great having a flat grassy area to play games and the sandy beach was enjoyed by the four and six year old. Only thing would be a little more seating up on main level. But lots on bottom level. Hoping to come again!

Great cottage, beautiful location.
We all really enjoyed this cottage, the size was perfect for a larger group. What really sold us was the water, so great for kiddies with a sandy entrance and shallow for a long way. We also really appreciated all the available boats. Everyone could be on water at the same time it was so much fun. Would love to rent again next year.

The road into the cottage is a bit challenging, but the cottage is great. It is located on a quiet bay. The water is clear. The cottage is well equipped and AIR CONDITIONED. Lovely cottage, perfect for our family. Quiet lake The road in is not the easiest to drive. Very narrow In spots and rough. The driveway is very steep. But once you unload the cottage is great, water is nice, Sandy walk in for the younger kids. We will be back next year.

Everything was wonderful, the cottage was clean upon our arrival and there were so many amenities available for the kids and adults to use during our stay. The beach area was clean and the soft sand entry made it great for the kids for swimming. We had a small issue with the water not working one night, but the cottage owner was there first thing in the morning and fixed it immediately. The location is private and quiet and located in a very calm area of the lake which made it wonderful for swimming and kayaking each day.Thank you for a wonderful cottage vacation.

A Great Family Vacation

A great place for three generations of family. We basically lived outside the whole week. Grandchildren kayaked for their first time and loved it. Loved that the beach was so close to the cottage. The road in is a challenge and the boat launch not very good, The only thing we would like to have had was recycle bins and also a locked bin for garbage at night to avoid having to bring inside. Raccoons love garbage.
Thanks for your review Rita! There are a number of boat launches on Redstone Lake. Directions are provided to the launch on the East side of the lake (Klondike Rd). This launch can get busy during the peak summer months making turning around a challenge. As a helpful tip; there is another launch on the West side of the lake (Redstone Lake Rd, off of Kennisis Lake Rd) that is flatter and has more space to maneuver.

Completely Enjoyable

We spent a very enjoyable week at Lonesome Spruce in late July. There was tons of room for the seven of us including three bathrooms, which was appreciated. Everything was great. The cottage was spacious and well equipped as well as air conditioned, which proved invaluable. The location, dock, raft, and watercraft were all super. We especially enjoyed the sandy beach and shallow entry, including our dog. There were no weeds in the lake, which was a great bonus. We plan to return again next year.

Nice big cottage for a big family

Nice cottage, lots of room for 12 people , nice big dining tableBeach area is nice for young kids. Driveway is a problem, large slope, nothing is flat. Hard to unload and reload the carAnd the road in from the main highway is winding rocky and narrow. We enjoyed the cottage once we were unloaded. And yes we would return.

Comfortable with wonderful lake and activities for the water!

This is our 3rd year for this cottage. We like the fact that there is a small beach to walk into the water as well as a dock and raft. The availability of kayaks and canoes for adults and children are an added bonus! The cottage is air-conditioned which is comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked although you might take some good knives for cutting. Plenty of room for us with 4 grandchildren and 6 adults. The road in was much better this year than the other years. In all, it is a value cottage for a wonderful holiday on the beautiful Redstone lake!

Great Place!

This was the best cottage. Lots of room for our family of 9. Kids didn't want to go home. Kids enjoyed the beach and the kayaks. The cottage itself was excellent and very well equipped with everything (except steak knives) Other than the very narrow 5 km or so dirt road to get to the cottage plus another 5 km or so on that narrow dirt road to the boat ramp was the only draw back. We had a large truck and a boat trailer that got several scrape marks and scratches from the trees and branches along the narrow dirt road and 2 other cars so it was tight parking on the hill at the cottage.. BUT aside from that, we loved the seclusion and peaceful tranquility the cottage provided.
Thanks for your review! We are very happy to hear that your family enjoyed the cottage. As noted in the review, the cottage is located down a long cottage road that is approximately 5 KM long. While there is plenty of room for one vehicle, it can be tight in spots if you have to make room for oncoming traffic … especially when towing a trailer. In regards to parking, there are additional parking spots at the top of the driveway. You can comfortably fit up to 5 vehicles, plus a trailer. It sounds like you may have used the boat launch on Redkenn Rd. It is much better to use the boat launch on Klondike Rd as instructed in the cottage info package. We always recommend launching on your way into the cottage to avoid having to haul a boat all the way in to the cottage, and then back out again.

Perfect family week

Perfect cottage and location for a 3 generation vacation. The facilities were ideal for the children all under 9 years of age. Bunk beds allowing all 4 to sleep on the same room,child kayaks, sandy beach, and best of all clean and clear lake water. Kitchen facilities were excellent. As it was such a hot week the ac was a bonus. The only downside was the dirt road drive in.

One of the best cottage experience

Out of all our cottage experiences in 10 years this cottage was the best one from the point of view of its cleanliness and privacy and ..... potential swimming, which we didn't have a chance to enjoy due to the rain and low temperatures. We are definitely considering coming back some time in July or August when we would be able to enjoy its private sandy beach and clean water of the lake.Thank you for the wonderful experience!Ekaterina

Thanksgiving in the Algonquin Highlands

What a fantastic place!! My sister and I had our families together for Thanksgiving. We really enjoyed this cottage and it's location. The weather was really nice and the sun came out in the afternoon to make our time on the lake even more enjoyable. Having access to the water toys was a deal closer for our two families. Would recommend this place to anyone. Hope to book this place again in the summer or next thanksgiving.

A comfortable and best equipped cottage that we have ever stayed at!

We had a wonderful week at Lonsome Spruce! The black flies were a problem but it's just the year! We enjoyed the use of all the outdoor boating and seating equipment. All the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked so cooking was easy! The barbecue got very hot so we really had to monitor it when we were cooking! Enjoyed having the air conditioning as we had the warmest week of the season so far! The road in is quite the ride!!! They were working on improving it during our stay. Again, it was the worst year so far for rain! Overall a wonderful week was had by all and will definitely book again when we check our families schedules.

Lonesome Spruce is very well equipped in the kitchen, the beds were very comforttable and the bathroom facillities were excellent for our group of 8.Everyone enjoyed the lake- swimming , fishiing and canoeing. The cottage is well equipped with kayaks, a canoe and paddleboat.

Amazing cottage!
This cottage is a 10 out of 10. It was very clean (the mattresses and pillows were like new) and had absolutely EVERYTHING a family could ask for... the kids loved the calm bay and swam for hours. They played on the kayaks and paddle boat and we went for a nice family canoe ride. The dishwasher and washer/dryer facilities made life very easy and it was great sharing the cottage with another family because we had the entire basement to ourselves. I would ABSOLUTELY rent this cottage again. ALSO - the owners were very accommodating with the week we asked for (and even changed their plans to allow us to stay the week of our choice). The team from All-Season Cottage Rentals made the rental process very easy. We had all of the information we needed prior to our trip. Overall, awesome experience.

Water Equipment was Amazing

The cottage was very comfortable - clean, lots of space and with all the dishes, utensils & equipment we needed except for a pair of regular scissors. The large lower deck was a great spot to relax, read and watch the children swim or play on the sand beach. The watercraft were amazing. The children enjoyed the kids' kayaks and the pedal boat. The adults enjoyed the kayaks and the canoe but the sail board was the biggest hit. The swimming was excellent with a nice firm non-weedy bottom. The swim raft would have been used a lot more but the ladder needs fixing and adults had trouble getting onto the raft. Although there wasn't a large enough flat area to play soccer without the ball going into the lake every few minutes, there was a nice flat area for our rubber horseshoe game and the bocce balls. The fire pit was great for roasting marshmallows. Be prepared for a long and sometimes bumpy ride into the cottage from the paved road. Very scenic when you get there though. Overall a great week for children and adults alike.

We found the cottage to be well equipped & comfortable for all members of our family (3 generations). Very scenic & beautiful .The only minor items are the ladder into the water on the dock is not properly anchored & there were some bees starting to form a nest in one of the planters on the bottom deck.We will return .

This cottage was extremely clean, on a beautiful, quiet lake. The use of the kayak, paddle boat and canoe was great. However, the road to the cottage was brutal. We toe a 16' aluminum boat, and could barely make it up the hills. The mattresses do need replacing as well.

Lovely cottage and waterfront
Cottage was very clean, modern and nicely equipped. Waterfront with dock and assorted watercraft was very good. Lake water is so clean! Easy entry to water for kids. Not very big space for kids to play around. Few mosquitos, lots of horse and deer flies however!

The stuff cottage dreams are made of!

Our party could not have has a more incredible time here! The cottage itself was beautiful indoors and stocked with everything we could need but the real STAR of this place was its outdoors - the ideal lakeside getaway! The beach entry made for some great water play and we literally spent all day lounging and playing on the lawn. We will no doubt be staying here again - can not wait!!

Very nice, well equipped, kid friendly cottage

We had a party of 12 with 6 kids stay at Lonesome Spruce. The cottage is very well equipped with plenty of kitchen accessories (coffee makers incl an espresso machine, blender/processor, lots of utensils). We were a group of experienced cooks and had no problems preparing our meals. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The waterfront was safe for the kids with a shallow entry beach. There was plenty of outdoor equipment to keep all of us busy - canoe, kayak, paddleboat and plenty of kids sand toys. The location is set at the end of a bay on Redstone Lake - so its very quiet and quite private. The lake itself has no marina, and thus very little boat traffic making the experience extra peaceful. The only drawback is if you want to explore the lake, you really would need a motorized boat or be willing to do a lot of paddling! The road to get to the cottage is unpaved and quite rough so an AWD vehicle with plenty of ground clearance is recommended. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend the cottage.

Fantastic Family Experience

Lonesome Spruce is a beautiful, clean, family-friendly cottage. We just got back from a one-week vacation and highly recommend Lonesome Spruce. It's spacious, has an incredible view and has everything we were looking for (e.g. sandy beach, canoes, big deck etc.) plus a bunch of bonuses (e.g. air hockey, windsurfer). The cottage is very well-kept and the owners are friendly and helpful. We'll be booking the same cottage next summer.
